Impetuous winds, hard and plain surface, endless open spaces mix together in the lunar scenery of Pampa Del Leoncito, to provide sensational speeds to tose who dare to challenge it in their kite buggy.

A hole journey to the heart of Los Andes, above 2000 mts. higth, in the beatiful wild Argentinian nature. If you are not one of the pilots you cannot not enyoy a unique international spectacle in Argentina and South America.

General information

Where: La Pampa del Leoncito is in San Juan province, (Argentina), north-east to Buenos Aires and approximately 1400 km.from Capital Federal. Its geographical coordinates are : 31º 50' S/69º 27' W.Tthe nearest town is Barreal, 17 Km. from the track. Barreal is 250 Km. from Mendoza city (the nearest airport) and about 370 from Santiago of Chile.

The place: a completely dried plain lake, La Pampa del Leoncito is 2000 mts. above sea level, with a surface area of 60 km2, 11 Km. long and 6 Km. wide. The 95 % of day throughout the year the winds blow at an average speed of up to 50 Km/h. (don't forget to bring your handkerchief....).

The weather: the first hot days begin to be felt by October, reaching considerable temperatures, making it necessary to wear light clothes. Don't forget to bring your suntan lotion !!

The temperature range is important, that´s why the temperature decreases abruptly at night, so, please, bring suitable clothes to keep you warm!!

How to get there: The most convenient form is to fly to Mendoza and from there, to hire a car to go to Barreal. You will find different companies to rent a vehicle in the same aiport.

For international pilots coming from abroad, the best thing to do is to go Buenos Aires or a through flight to Mendoza and contact with the rest of the group, travelling altogether or, for Chileans, to travel directly from Santiago by car.

As will as the posibility of going camping in different places.

Where to eat: The cabins are well equipped with complete sets of dishes and all the necessary cooking utensils. You can also hire the service of breakfast.Lunch is generally takes place in the same Pampa de Leoncito, food viands are organized before leaving.We will certainly share dinner at Cabañas Doña Pipa´s restaurant.

Thursday 07th , October:

Transfer from Barreal to Pampa de Leoncito

Location position of the place for the new pilots.

Registration/ Enrollment and participants introduction equipment fitness - free tests.

Recognition of the land/site.

Friday 08th, October:

Speed and pursuit tests.All the pilots that feel able to break a new record of speed.. this it is the opportunity. 

We will put on to all the pilots disposition kites Longko (different measures)  provided for MJR for those that want to prove their perfomance.

As stimulus for that pilot that reaches the maximum speed  se takes the kite free.... yes you read well it takes it to him like prize. To see conditions

Saturday 09th,October:

Speed test continuation.

Saturday night "Big Barbecue Celebration"... don´t drink too much because later we will have fun with another sensation (of pleasure): Nigght Buggy show!!! Practice inaugurated by a few in the previous edition and according to their exact word..." you have to try to experiment feel live what it is like riding in the darkness!!

Sunday 11th, October

Track races - Speed Races.

Year after year we saw the difficulty that implies to run in a circuit when the speeds that are reached with the buggies are not anything worthless, for it this year a circuit will be demarcated that embraces a great part of the pampas, and this way to offer to the pilots more trust when rotating in a circuit.

The races and circuit with buoys aim at achieving confidence with races with many pilots, such races are not merely competitive races, that´s why it should be convenient to be ready to travel under these conditions.

Those who haven´t read the rules and types off races yet, or who would like to brush up on their knowledge, will be able to do so at "Rules for Buggy Races".

NB: The above written is a probable and amendable program, which may change according to weather conditions.

Security:

Due to the extreme wind conditions and reached speeds,. It is compulsory to wear security elements: helmet, specs, gloves, kneepad, etc.

"IT WON'T BE ALLOWED TO ENTER TO HINT WITHOUT HELMET"

Alternative activities:

Those who would like just to accompany the pilots with no intention of getting on a buggy, can enjoy horse riding, 4x4 excursions, visits to the red valleys, cave paintings, etc. And enjoy the show of buggyes.
